How To Make Lime Cilantro Sauce
This sauce is incredibly easy to make. It only takes 5 minutes.
Put all ingredients into a small bowl and mix until evenly combined. If you prefer you can use a blender or food processor, but I find it easier to just hand mix it (less cleanup).
Pro tip: Want it thinner, start by whisking in an extra tablespoon of water. If that’s not enough, add another tablespoon until it reaches your preferred consistency.
Store in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

Variations
- For diary free – use a plant based yogurt like cashew or coconut. If the yogurt is thin, let it drain in a coffee filter for about 30 minutes to thicken it up.
- Extra creamy – blend in 1/2 of an avocado for an even creamier sauce.
- To make it spicy – blend in jalapeño, serrano pepper, or a pinch of cayenne. The spicy kick pairs wonderfully with the cool, creamy base and bright citrus flavor.
Serving Suggesions
This sauce can be used is so many ways. Here are some suggestions
- Sauce for fritters – I love it with my cabbage fritters.
- Drizzle over tacos – Perfect with chicken, fish, shrimp, or roasted vegetable tacos.
- Top grain bowls – Delicious on quinoa, rice, or Buddha bowls with roasted vegetables.
- Serve with grilled chicken or fish – Adds fresh flavor and a creamy finish.
- Use as a salad dressing – Especially good on cabbage slaw or simple green salads.
- Spoon over roasted vegetables – Great with cauliflower, sweet potatoes, or zucchini.
- Spread on wraps and sandwiches – Adds a bright, creamy layer of flavor.
- Serve as a dip – Try it with fresh vegetables, tortilla chips, or roasted potatoes.
- Drizzle over eggs – A flavorful topping for scrambled eggs or breakfast bowls.
How To Store
Store the cilantro lime sauce in an airtight container or small glass jar in the refrigerator. It will stay fresh for about 3–4 days. The flavors often become even better after a few hours as the cilantro, lime, and garlic blend together.
If the sauce thickens in the fridge, simply stir in a small splash of water or lime juice to loosen it before serving.
Does not freeze well.
